Rex P5

Out of the Box: Just as any other Italian-made engine, the Rex P5 was built very stout and precise. Break-in went faily quickly. We, however, could not get this engine to smoke a lot. The directions were very good.

On the Track: Low-end... Enough said. This engine has so much torque. We ran the P5 with a Jammin JP-1 pipe and it performed great! This engine likes to be run hot. Somewhere between 240 and 260 degrees. Idle was great. I could crash, come off the drivers stand, and flip my car over and it would still be running. The rods, however, are slightly weak. I have never pulled a rod but I have work the bushings out of 2.

Longevity: Like I said in the O.S. CV-R review, you must change the airfilters after every heat. The old myth about running a dirty air filter doesn't hold water. We ran this P5 for almost 2 seasons and it still serves as my backup engine today. I have got 9 gallons on it and it is still running strong.
